What are the differences between a government school and a private school?

Education is a very important part of our life as it helps us to develop in someone better and if a person is educated then he can make better decisions. It expands our learning, knowledge, and skill and helps us to attain positive attitudes. Education not only provides benefits to an individual but it also helpful for the entire nation as an educated country means more power and progress. This is why going to school is important as schools are the places where the foundation of a literate and progressive nation is laid.

There are a large number of schools in India that provide primary and secondary education to children. Most of them are CBSE affiliated and others are affiliated to state boards. Apart from private schools, India has a large number of government schools as well. Both private and government schools have their own significance in their respective fields.

However, with the increase of private schools in India, there has been a decline in the number of students in government schools. The debate between the comparison of government and private schools is not new and we all know that it will go on till eternity. Therefore, today we will discuss the differences between private school and government school.

Some of the major differences are as follows:

1. Government schools are funded and controlled by the local, state or national government whereas the private schools are privately funded and the government does not have any role in these schools.
2.  The biggest difference one finds between private and government schools is the medium of learning. The mode of communication of many private schools is English whereas children in government institutions are taught in regional or Hindi language.
3.  Besides providing quality education, private schools pay attention to the overall development of the students. They help students to develop good habits such as punctuality and hygiene and their uniforms are checked regularly. In government schools, no one pays attention to such things.
4. Private schools make learning fun by promoting extra-curricular and social activities or inter-school competitions. Such activities boost the confidence and improve the personality of each individual. However, only a few government schools are concerned about such areas of development.
5.  Most of the private schools are affiliated to CBSE board whereas government schools are affiliated to a state board. However, there is no such difference between the curriculums set by these two different boards but students of CBSE board are always given preference everywhere.
6. Most of the government schools lack basic facilities such as drinking and sanitation facilities, electricity and proper classrooms, etc. whereas private school tries to provide a world-class environment of learning and provide proper infrastructure and facilities to the children.
7.   Teachers in government schools are highly qualified yet government schools are unable to show a better result than private schools. Teachers in private schools are highly dedicated to their duties whereas a lack of dedication can be seen among government teachers.

These are some of the major differences between a government and a private school and if you are looking for some good private schools for your child then you must definitely consider the schools of Delhi NCR. Some of the top CBSE schools in Delhi NCR are DPS, The Shri Ram School, GD Goenka Public School, etc.
